Jennifer Carlson is currently an associate professor in the School of Sociology and the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona.Gonzalez is also the author of Artivistas: Music, Community, and Transborder Tactics in East Los Angeles (2020). Lead singer, songwriter, and percussionist in the East Los Angeles music collective Quetzal. She’s a musician, cultural theorist, and activist who uses collaborative methods of artistic expression to build community and advance social justice principles. Martha Gonzalez joined the faculty of Scripps College in 2013, where she is currently an associate professor in the Intercollegiate Department of Chicana/o Latina/o Studies and director of the Scripps Humanities Institute.Hopinka’s films include Anti-Objects, or Space Without Path or Boundary (2017), Mnemonics of Shape and Reason(2021), and the feature-length film, maɬni-towards the ocean, towards the shore (2020). He is an assistant professor in the Film and Electronic Arts Program at Bard College. Sky Hopinka is a filmmaker, video artist, and photographer working with new forms of cinema to center the perspectives of Indigenous people. BOKEH CHICAGO HOW TOHe is the author of three critically acclaimed books - Long Division (2020), How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America (2021), and his memoir, Heavy (2018). Laymon’s essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, among other publications. He founded the Mississippi-based Catherine Coleman Literary Arts and Justice Initiative. Previously a member of the faculties at Vassar College and the University of Mississippi, Kiese Laymon joined Rice University in 2022 as the Moody Shearn Professor of English and Creative Writing.In 2015, Jambeck and her colleagues estimated that eight million metric tones of plastic waste entered the ocean each year. She co-developed the Marine Debris Tracker mobile app, a platform for community members to log the types and quantities of plastic debris in their communities. She has developed new techniques for understanding and tracking global plastic pollution in our waterways. Jenna Jambeck is currently Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Georgia.Her research has been supported by several grants, including a Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering, a National Science Foundation Waterman Award, and a National Science Foundation CAREER grant. A professor of mathematics at Harvard University, Melanie Matchett Wood fouses on questions in number theory, as well as arithmetic and algebraic geometry, topology, probability, and random groups.Prohira studies cosmic rays and ultra-high energy neutrinos, developing a novel method for detecting the very-difficult-to-observe sub-atomic particles. Prior to that he was a President’s Postdoctoral Scholar and Fellow at the Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics at the Ohio State University. Steven Prohira is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kansas.Her research group at MIT is working to create “the next generation of materials for quantum information and harnessing high pressure to synthesize new emergent materials.” Using molecular chemistry she is designing molecules that can act as qubits-the building blocks of quantum systems - to address fundamental questions in physics. Danna Freedman is a synthetic chemist who is the Frederick George Keyes Professor of Chemistry at MIT.
